Can I use Epsom Salt or Bath Salts in my Hot Tub?

Epsom Salt or Magnesium Sulfate is an alkaline chemical compound that is transdermal. Since it can pass through our skin it offers many benefits to our sore and achy bodies.

However, Epsom Salt or Bath Salts do not have the same effect on your hot tub, and we do not recommend using them.

Adding Epsom or Bath Salts to your hot tub will alter your water chemistry, it will raise your Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and it can be highly corrosive and corrode your heater and pump elements.

While we have never tried it, mixing Epsom Salt with Chlorine can cause severe skin damage similar to a Flash Burn.

If you want the benefits of Epsom or Bath Salts we recommend you use it in your bathtub or foot bath where it can be drained and rinsed out after each use.

We recommend you keep your hot tub water balanced and use it to enjoy a relaxing hydromassage.
